THE EMEMY--THE DEVIL AND HIS FOLLOWERSThis Lord's words explained bible study document will be, The Enemy--The Devil and His Followers. In this document, I will show you that the devil, the enemy, is a murderer--of the law, and if you read and understand the laws of God, then you will see how clever and subtle the devil has been from the beginning. I will give you many scriptural references to the various names of the enemy - the devil and his followers.All text taken from the version of the King James Biblethe enemy - the devil, the wicked one, Satan, the serpent, Lucifer, the dragon, king of Tyrus, the prince of the power of the air, the annointed cherubhis followers - wicked ones, children of the wicked one, false prophets, false apostles, they can also be called vipers and wolves, tares, and children of disobedience, children of darkness, Under the above two headings, are some of the names you will find in the scriptures that will refer to the enemy (the devil) and his followers. I have tried to find scriptures for all these names for you.Rev. 12:9 - And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him his angels - the devil's angels are the children of the wicked one John 8:44 - Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Ye are of [your] father the devil - meaning the people from the beginning (see verses below)Gen.3:1 - Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he (serpent) said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? the field - is the world - the people in the worldMatt.13:38 - The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked [one].abode not in the truthII Cor.11:3-4 - But I (Paul) fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtily, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. II Peter 3:17 - Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know [these things] before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. Jude 4 - For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. seducing spirits, false prophets, false apostles, and wolves - II Peter 2:1 - But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, upon themselves swift destruction. Matt.24:11 - And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matt.7:15 - Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Acts 20:29 - For I (Paul) know this, that after my departing (death) shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. See - The Good ShepherdII Cor. 11:13-15 - For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. (14) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (15) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. beast of the field - the enemy (devil) and the children of the wicked one (See Matt.13:38)Matt.10:16 - Behold, I (Jesus) send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless (simple) as doves.Again, see Rev. 12:9 - to see that we have been dealing with the devil/Satan - the enemy - from the beginning and that he is the prince of the air - the spirit of evil thought. prince of the power of the air - the devilEph.2:2-3 - Wherein in time past ye walked according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: (3) Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. the children of disobedience - or unbelief the childen of darkness, the wicked one - the opposite of children of lightGal.5:16-17 - [This] I (Paul) say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things they ye would.Eph.5:5 - Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience (or unbelief) I Thes.5:5 - Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. The above verse is explaining that the children of light are those who believe in Jesus Christ and therefore are called children of the day, as opposed to the children of the night or darkness which are the followers of Satan or the devil.
I Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. lust - inordinate desireI John 1:15-16 - Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world Jude 15-16 - To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. (16) these are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling [words], having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. angel from heaven - (See Gal.1:8 above) -is referring to the annointed cherub who was one that covered the Mercy Seat until iniquity overtook him and God cast him out The next several verses is a complete discription of Satan the devil, also known as the king of Tyrus and the annoited cherubEzek.28:12-19 - Son of man, take up a lamintation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. (13) Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone [was] thy covering, the sardius (ruby), topaz, and the diamond, the beryl (chrysolite), the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald nd the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. (14) Thou [art] the annointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. (15) Thou [wast] perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. (16) By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. (17) Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. (18) Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries (palaces) by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. (19) All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never [shalt] thou [be] any more.a fire from the midst of thee - Amos 1:10 - But I (God) will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof. So God created the king of Tyrus, the annointed cherub, (the one we now call Satan or the devil,) and the annointed cherub even had the previledge of covering God's throne, but because he (the annointed cherub) thought himself so beautiful, became corrupt and God cast him out. He (now known as the devil) will be cast down to earth. A great angel will come down from heaven and capture the devil and lock in the bottomless pit, eventually the devil will be thrown into the lake of fire, which is the second death. - See - Judgment, The First Resurrection and the Second Death Lucifer - the only reference in the Bible for this nameIs.14:12 - How art thou fallen from heaven O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! Lucifer #1966 - heylel - this word is found only once in the Bible - Lucifer - "light-bearer"; 1)shining one, morning star, Lucifer, 1a) of the king of Babylon and Satan (fig.) - from #1984 (in the sense of brightness)#1984 (in the sense of brightness) - halal - a primitive root - AV - praise, glory, boast, mad, shine, foolish, fools, commended, rage, celebrate, give, marriage, renowned - 1b) (Hiphil) to flash forth light; 2a1) to be boastfulBefore we begin, refer back to Rev.12:9 again - found at the beginning of this document.Rev.20:1-3 - And I (John) saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. (2) And he (the great angel) laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, (3) And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. Rev.20:7-10 - And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, (8) And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarter of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom [is] as the sand of the sea. (9) And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. (10) And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. generation of vipers - Matt.12:32-35 - And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither this world, neither in the [world] to come. (33) Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by [his] fruit. (34) O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. (35) A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. friend of the world is an enemy of God James 4:4 - Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity(hostility) with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is an enemy of God. enmity - hostilityRom.8:7 - Because the carnal mind (the minding of the Spirit) [is] enmity (hostile) against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.Again, I Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. This does not mean that the devil is going to eat you physically, but spiritually.
